12 Days of Christmas #4 – Angelica’s Plant Paradise

Last Updated: diciembre 28th, 2022By Categories: Blog en español1,8 min read

Before the pandemic, Angélica Gómez had a booth at the North Hollywood swap meet. She and her children had a stall selling sundries. The business was growing and they had many plans for the business and for their family. The pandemic came and everything fell apart. The swap meet closed its doors and they found themselves in a very difficult situation. They had to find a way to produce income to pay their bills and cover their living expenses.

Angelica’s children took on the task of looking for jobs. Angelica stayed home but she was not calm. Every day she looked for options and a thousand ideas turned in her head. She loves plants and she thought about contacting one of her colleagues at the swap meet who had a plant nursery. She started selling plants from home and people responded. When the swap meet opened its doors again, Angelica brought her plants and began this new adventure.

Angelica completed the program “Crece tu Negocio » (Grow your Business) program for swap meet vendors and received a certificate from the New Women Business Center, a logo design for her business, personalized business consultancies and a professional photoshoot for her promotions on social media. She qualified to apply to the Dream Fund Grant, she created her Business Plan and completed all the requirements, in September 2022 she applied and was awarded in November. She shared with us that this Grant came in a moment she really needed. She is so happy to take advantage of this opportunity and invest the money to grow her business.
