Breaking Barriers & Defying Limits
When it comes to action packed careers, La Faye Baker is setting the stage. As the powerhouse behind Stuntwoman Xtraordinaire, she’s spent nearly three decades defying gravity, choreographing high-stakes sequences, and making Hollywood’s most daring stunts look effortless. But La Faye is unique, her passion is about breathtaking action and she’s on a mission to change the narrative. From breaking barriers for women in the stunt industry to mentoring the next generation of fearless females, she’s proving that behind every great stunt is a story worth telling. La Faye’s journey began with a passion for athleticism and creativity. Starting out as a career in stunt performance quickly evolved into a larger vision, one that would uplift and empower women in Hollywood. Seeing the lack of representation for women, especially Black stuntwomen, she took action. She founded Diamond in the RAW, a nonprofit dedicated to introducing teen girls to behind the scenes careers in entertainment, and The Action Icon Stuntwomen’s Conference and Awards, honoring the fearless women who make the industry’s most thrilling moments possible. Through her nonprofit, La Faye has helped countless young women explore careers beyond the spotlight whether in filmmaking, journalism, or entertainment law. Her efforts don’t stop there. She’s also producing a documentary highlighting the experiences of Black stuntwomen in Hollywood and has authored The Stuntwoman’s Journal & Coffee Table Book, a resource designed to inspire and guide future generations of performers. The road to success isn’t without obstacles, but with the support of NEW-Women’s Business Center, La Faye found the tools, resources, and mentorship to expand her vision. Their guidance helped her navigate the business side of her ventures, ensuring her programs and initiatives continue to thrive. From strategic planning to networking opportunities, the center played a key role in helping her scale her impact.La Faye’s legacy is everything about creating real change. Whether it’s inspiring young women to pursue careers behind the camera or advocating for gender equality in Hollywood, her work is a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose.La Faye stated,“Breaking barriers isn’t just about making a statement, it’s about making a lasting impact. And I won’t stop until the industry truly reflects the diversity, talent, and resilience of the women who help shape it.” |
