EmpoweHer Women Business Owners as CEO’s

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, New Economics for Women (NEW) produced an event honoring women business owners and CEOs. The point of the event was to give women the power to walk into the position as CEO for their business. At the onset of the event, attendees were invited to visit vendor tables that focused on specific topics such as Leadership Development, Financial Management, Strategic Planning, and CEO confidence. This provided attendees an opportunity to get business leadership information from professionals as well as network before the program.
The program began with opening remarks by Ruth Garcia-Corrales and the history of NEW by Maggie Cervantes, CEO for NEW. This was relevant to the program in that NEW was founded by four passionate women who built NEW into a multimillion-dollar organization. From there the program’s keynote speaker, Miri Rossitto, CEO for Cowe Communications spoke on the day-to-day challenges and learning opportunities for women CEOs.  After the keynote speaker, attendees had the opportunity to listen to two panel discussions hosted by Pegi Matsuda and Paula Bahamon regarding the CEO Journey and the Access to Capital. Both panels included successful women who have taken their business ideas from conception to reality by stepping into their role as CEO and leader of their respective businesses.
Overall, the day was filled with great information and learning opportunities coming from women who have firsthand knowledge on how to create success through entrepreneurship. It was an event filled with knowledge, positive energy, and sisterhood, which is what NEW strives to embody in its overarching programming for entrepreneurs.
